Ipswich Skills Day II for 2011 – A Great Success!

The fourth and final TROHPIQ Skills Day for the year was held at UQ Ipswich on Saturday 17th September. We covered important skills including cannulation, suturing, venepuncture, bandaging/slings, wound care, airways management and plastering in a small group setting.  The day brought together Nursing and Medical students from across Queensland, giving us the opportunity to work and learn together.  Overall, the day was a great success, and more Skills Days like this one are planned for Ipswich in the future.

Our thanks go out the the conveners particularly Chris and Jasmin, who organised and ran the Skills Day.

Women in Rural Medicine Clinician Dinner

The first annual TROHPIQ & SWIM Rural Clinician Dinner was a big success! Thanks to everyone involved in organizing the event and to all those who attended.

The evening included a lovely dinner at the Diana Hotel with a panel discussion where the clinicians answered all of our burning questions as well as inspired and entertained us with their personal experiences!

A special thanks goes out to the wonderful guest clinicians: Dr. Simone Peacock, Dr. Patricia Stuart, Dr. Kathy Williams, and Dr. Rose Zacher, for all of their advice and insight into rural medicine.
