Joint Rural Health Club week-end
Winner of the NRHSN’s best new interclub event in 2010, the JRHC week-end has developed into a fantastic collaborative effort by all of the Queensland rural health clubs. It’s a week-end of three parts:
- Planning and learning what we can do better as clubs
- Learning a few new health related tricks and revising some old ones
- Socialising with our brethren from across the state
Places are limited and fill up quickly. Why? Because it’s a great week-end. What can you do? Get in early and show that you’re keen – it’s definitely worth your time.

Rural Awareness Dinner
This event, the brainchild of Hope4Health and QRME, was inagurated in 2010 to great success. The premise is to get students who are interested in practising rurally but not entirely sure what’s involved, how you ‘get there’ and so on (which is most of us really) and have them sit down to dinner with a knowledgable rural doc.
It’s a bit of a misnomer because afterwards, for that week-end, people have the option to be travel to a near-by rural town and sample the local delights including the races and wineries. It’s a bit of education but mostly for fun and sometimes that not a bad thing at all!

Gundy Medical Muster
The Goondiwindi Medical Muster is held once every two years (on the ‘even’ years) and is a site to behold! Doctors and students are rounded up from near and far to participate in an educational week-end hosted by the GPs of Gundy. A vast network of alumni and sponsors ensure that the quality is top notch and, if you let slip you’re a student, there’s a good chance you won’t pay for dinner!
