Opportunities

Bundaberg is a coastal town 360 km north of Brisbane with a population of 100,000. The traditional owners of the land are the  Taribelang Bunda, Gooreng Gooreng, Gurang, and Bailai Peoples. Bundaberg RCS is home for roughly 16 third year and 10 fourth year (final year) students. Students complete placements at Bundaberg Hospital, Mater Misericordiae Hospital Bundaberg, Friendly Society Private Hospital, and local community practices.

All compulsory clinical placements are offered in Bundaberg, with med spec options including cardiology, oncology, and renal medicine. Bundaberg RCS hosts a clinical simulation lab and its own library, providing students with interactive teaching opportunities and access to a full range of learning resources.

Accommodation

Student accommodation is less than 1.5 km from the Bundaberg Base Hospital - a leisurely 15 minute walk away. The accommodation complex is made up of 4 2-bedroom and 4 3-bedroom units, each fully furnished with internet access. Staying at this accommodation generates a tight-knit community spirit amongst the students, who often gather together for shared dinners.

What to do

Bundaberg is potentially best known for the Bundaberg Rum Factory, but that is not all there is to do in town. There are stunning beaches, and is south enough you can comfortable swim without fear of jellyfish. The Bundaberg RCS students also make up a significant portion of the town badminton club, which always provides a laugh and a welcome distraction from medical school studies. UQMS and TROHPIQ also support an inter-RCS sports competition and Bundy Ball - there is always something happening in Bundy!
