UQ Rural Clinical Schools
The University of Queensland Rural Clinical School (RCS) has 4 locations for their medical students to study at in phase 2 of their MD program - Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, and Toowoomba. UQ RCS is the largest rural clinical school in Australia hosted by a single university.

Established in 2002, the Rural Clinical School works to foster and sustain a skilled and dynamic medical workforce to meet the needs of rural, regional, and remote Queensland. Students in the clinical phase of the medical program live and work at one of the RCS sites for one or two years. It provides students with rigorous clinical training built upon hands-on experiences in hospitals and community-based practices.

Above all, they give students the unique opportunity to live and work in some of Queensland’s amazing rural, regional and remote locations. UQ RCS provides a range of accommodation options for students, including thier own residences, hospital staff accommodation or rental subsidies for couples and families.

Bundaberg
Known for Bundaberg Rum, sea turtles and being a gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, Bundaberg is also home to one of the University of Queensland's Rural Clinical Schools and associated Regional Training Hub. Traditional Country of the Taribelang Bunda, Gooreng Gooreng, Gurang, and Bailai Peoples, this is a rapidly growing region of the Wide Bay, with a new $1.2 billion hospital to be completed in 2027, UQ-CQU Regional Medical Pathway and bustling health community providing a great opportunity for prospective medical students.
Hervey Bay
Nestled into the beautiful shores of the Fraser Coast, Hervey Bay is perfect for watching humpback whales, a trip to K'Gari (Fraser Island), strolling the esplanade or even studying medicine at the University of Queensland Rural Clinical School. Another rapidly growing area and a perfect spot to call home for your studies, Hervey Bay hospital sports brand new facilities, a thriving junior doctor community and is complimented by restaurants, cafes and the great outdoors for those keen to experience the local community
Rockhampton
The self-crowned 'Beef Capital' of Queensland, Rockhampton is UQ's northern most Rural Clinical School and also welcomes a cohort from the UQ x CQU Regional Medical Pathway. The First Nations Darumbal People have called this beautiful area of central QLD home for millenia, and for some time you can too with a large hospital, busy night life and great views over the Fitzroy river. Toowoomba
Toowoomba, Country of the Giabal and Jarrowair Peoples, is a city in the Darling Downs region 125km west of Brisbane. As a already large and ever-growing regional centre, Toowoomba offers great clinical immersion, varied options to socialise and relax and will soon be home to the Regional Medical Pathway partnership with USQ. With cafes, restaurants, nearby national parks, hikes and the famous Carnival of Flowers, making this your Rural Clinical School is a sure way to progress your medical studies.
